What Is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a holistic therapy based on the belief that specific points on the feet, hands, ears and face correspond to organs and systems throughout the body. By applying pressure to these reflex points, we aim to promote balance and wellbeing, improve sleep and work with the body’s natural healing abilities.

Is Reflexology safe?
Yes, Reflexology is generally considered safe when performed by a qualified practitioner, look for membership of a professional body like the Association of Reflexologists (AoR) if you are in the UK. Before your first appointment you will be asked to complete a consultation form. It is important that you include details of any medical conditions, medication, treatments and any other relevant info so that you can receive the most appropriate and beneficial treatment for you.
Does Reflexology hurt?
Reflexology sometimes causes a little tenderness in specific reflexes where there may be blockages or imbalances. Any discomfort is usually short lived and often fades as the reflex is stimulated. A good reflexologist will work within your comfort level.
How many Reflexology sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on your individual conditions, health goals and your response to treatment. For many people a treatment once a fortnight or once a month brings them the support they need. In cases where there is a significant need, we would recommend starting the rebalancing process with a treatment each week for 4 – 6 weeks and after that we would discuss what would be most appropriate for you.
Is Reflexology safe for pregnant women?
Reflexology can be a wonderful support through pregnancy and most reflexologists will happily offer treatment as you enter the second trimester and up to your due date. Special attention will be given to your comfort and treatment will be adjusted in line with current guidelines on best Reflexology practice in these circumstances.
Can Reflexology be used alongside other treatments or medication?
Reflexology can be complementary to other treatments and medications, on your consultation form make sure you record all relevant info so that the best advice and treatment can be offered to you. Reflexology can support traditional medical care and support you through physical, emotional and mentally challenging times.
How long does a Reflexology session typically last?
Most of my sessions are 60 minutes but if you have less time available you can opt for a 30 minute de-stress and wellbeing facial Reflexology treatment or if you have more time you can choose our 90 minute Head to Toe Reflexology treatment.
What should I expect during a Reflexology session?
You will be fully dressed and will only remove your socks and shoes if you have feet Reflexology. You will be made comfortable in my reclining chair and offered soft, warm blankets as your comfort contributes to your relaxation. We will apply pressure to the reflexes on your feet, face or hands and the overall feeling will be one of relaxation and restoration.
Can Reflexology be used for stress or anxiety relief?
Yes, Reflexology is well known for its stress reducing benefits and anxiety relief. Many people report feeling calmer and their sleep improves, which increases their general feeling of wellness.
Are there any side effects of Reflexology?
Some people may experience mild side effects like: tiredness, temporary soreness or sensitivity in the areas treated or emotional release (feeling emotional after a session) These effects are typically short-lived and are considered part of the body’s natural healing process. We will advise you to listen to your body for 48 hours after treatment and make sure you keep hydrated to support any healing responses within your system.
