Reflexology – An Introduction

Reflexology is a wonderful, non-invasive, complementary health therapy that has been in use since ancient times. It has endured as an holistic health treatment because of its part in helping your body regain and maintain its healthy balance. With balance in your systems you are more likely to enjoy natural good health and find your way through life’s ups and downs with more ease.

Reflexology can support people through their busy lives, life events, health issues and challenges. All ages, from babies onwards, can enjoy and benefit from reflexology.

Reflexology works on the basis that there are areas on your feet, hands and face, known as reflexes, which represent different parts of your body. As a Reflexologist I will massage and stimulate these reflexes, this promotes deep relaxation, helps you sleep better, reduces stress and anxiety and increases your sense of well-being. All of this adds up to you feeling better. With an increased sense of well-being you are able to view life more positively, which in turn enables you to make the most out of your life.

How often should I have a treatment?

Some people start with a set of 4 or 6 treatments to get the increased cumulative benefits and then proceed with monthly treatments to maintain the improved sense of wellbeing. Others choose to come in for one off treatments as and when they feel they need it. Each person has their own needs and these needs will be discussed during the consultation in the first session. Discounts are available if block booking.

Is Reflexology suitable for everyone?

There are certain conditions that mean it is not advisable to have reflexology while those conditions persist. As part of our initial consultation we will discuss your general health and lifestyle and if reflexology is not appropriate for you at the moment I will advise you accordingly.

Reflexology after-care advice

You may experience healing responses after a treatment and this will be discussed at the end of a treatment. Please see any response as a positive sign that your body is rebalancing. If you do have a healing response it will generally resolve within 24- 48 hours.

Reflexology works holistically to treat the whole person not just the symptoms and works alongside conventional medical practise, it does not replace it..
